Empowering Early Stage Researchers through new educational resources

As a partner in the NextTechTalents consortium, the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) plays a key role in strengthening support for early-career researchers across Europe. Through evidence-based analysis, needs-driven training development, and open dissemination of knowledge, JSI contributes to building a more transparent, inclusive, and future-oriented research ecosystem aligned with European research and innovation policies.

Within the framework of the NextTechTalents project, the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) is part of conducting a comprehensive analysis of innovative practices, processes, and strategic approaches that support the development of early-career researchers. This work is closely aligned with the European Charter for Researchers and the ResearchComp Framework, contributing to the creation of a more transparent, ethical, and inclusive research environment across Europe.

JSI is actively contributing to an in-depth needs assessment targeting Early-Stage Researchers (ECRs), including doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. Drawing on interviews and surveys, the project examines systemic barriers, skills gaps, and structural challenges that shape researchers’ career development, particularly in technology-related research fields. Building on the results of this needs assessment, the project focuses on identifying key challenges faced by young researchers and mapping practical, actionable solutions. A series of high-quality educational and training resources will be developed, designed to support competence development, career progression, and responsible research and innovation practices.

These resources will be freely available on VideoLectures.NET, an internationally acclaimed open-access platform hosted by the Jožef Stefan Institute. VideoLectures.NET offers a rich repository of peer-reviewed educational content, featuring lectures and presentations by leading scholars from renowned conferences, workshops, summer schools, and science outreach events spanning a wide range of disciplines.

Stay connected and follow our journey as we continue to share NextTechTalents resources with an expanding international audience — promoting open education, collaboration, and excellence in research for the next generation of researchers.
